Access Advisory Panel Meeting
Date 13th Feb 2008
Many subjects were discussed at this meeting so I have written about the main points of interest.
There was a lively discussion about transport in the Bracknell Forest Borough; Mark Methven gave a presentation about a pilot scheme which Bracknell Day Services are working on with Damian James from the transport depot. Jim Finney (councillor) raised pertinent questions regarding the consultation which had taken place which had not included one of the main providers Keep Mobile; also he was concerned that the scheme had not been presented to the Access Advisory Panel at its inception. Further questions were asked about the boundaries of the area the scheme would cover since it seemed to be exclusively only central Bracknell and excluded a very large part of the borough where people live. The charging system and hours of operation for pilot scheme also seemed to be very unclear.
A person talked about consultation and wanted the panel’s ideas about how it should take place. Steph O’Connell informed the group that when consultation takes place more time should be allowed to complete the paperwork, so the paperwork needs to be sent out earlier. Steph said she felt that the deadlines given were to short and that it was discriminating against people with disabilities.
Bracknell train station was discussed, which included information about the grants that had been made available for the improvements to the bridge and the lifts.
Andrea McCombie-Parker started a discussion about how to address people with disabilities
